Mancetter Parish Council is a non-political council with a maximum number of eight councillors, who work together for the benefit of the community. 

The current four- year term of office ends in May 2027. 

Following an uncontested election on Thursday 4th May 2023, seven councillors were duly elected, leaving one parish councillor vacancy.

On 28th May 2024 this vacancy was filled, and the council is operating at full strength, with four representatives from each village.

Having elected councillors and a trained clerk has enabled the Parish Council to claim eligibility for the power of General Competence, which lasts for the four- year term of office. This provides the legal framework for a greater number of powers in it's quest to support the community.

All of our parish councillors are holders of public office, who are not members of other councils, and do not receive any payment for being part of the first tier of local government. They do not make decisions individually. 

Some councillors have taken on specific responsibilities which are detailed against their names. 

All members of the council have different interests, skills and experience.

Some still work, others are active members of community groups and each has a valuable contribution to make within sub groups and full council meetings.
